Elaine Aldington

On leaving art school, Elaine has been a practising artist alongside careers in London as an Art Director and latterly, as an Art Teacher in Oxfordshire. Her personal creative journey over the years in printmaking, collage and painting changed direction during Covid when she developed a love for ceramics. A local artist, she is originally from the South Coast of England and her inspiration comes from her time spent beach combing, collecting sea-tumbled stones and brick, ceramic, chalk and concrete remnants for the rawness of the surface. Working in a variety of stoneware clays, Elaine now produces one-of-a-kind, hand built pieces. They are understated, clean forms in a muted palette that celebrate the quality and beauty of the clay. They are made to be used as containers or as sculptural objects.

“I spend a long time perfecting the finish until I’m completely satisfied that I have simply reflected the beauty of a clay.”
